The Tom Khan
Our creamy Tom Khan Gai is a comforting, flavorful Southeast Asian soup packed with aromatic spices. Originally published in Thai cuisine in 1890, the classic recipe featured young galangal, tender duck, and a spicy chili jam relish. Over time, as French Indochina expanded and blended with neighboring Lao influences, the soup evolved into the vibrant, balanced dish we enjoy today—sweet, sour, spicy, and seasoned with fresh herbs for a perfect kick of flavor.
Our chicken-and-vegetable version is lean and nutritious, yet no less complex. Fragrant galangal, kaffir lime, garlic, and ginger bring anti-inflammatory and immune support, while rich coconut milk turns the soup into a satisfying hug. Served with bright and spicy side salad.
Young galangal is a fresh, tender root with a bright, citrusy flavor—similar to ginger but with a unique, spicy aroma.

How to Brew Tisane
To brew:
- Measure about 1–2 teaspoons of dried herbs or a small handful of fresh herbs per cup.
- Bring fresh, filtered water to a boil.
- Pour the hot water over the herbs and cover. Let it steep for 5–10 minutes to extract their medicinal properties.
- Remove the herbs by straining the infusion into a cup.
- You can add a touch of honey or lemon if desired but keep it mild to maintain the herbal benefits.
