TCM Tips For Jet Lag Relief

Naria Diaz Chi, a diplomate in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, is our TCM advisor, fine-tuning dishes in line with TCM's principles of flavor, temperature, color, and season.
Aside from being an extraordinary healer, she is also a seasoned traveler. Naria travels to South Korea from New York multiple times a year to see her family, which is a polite 15-hour flight every time. She also travels for work (and fun) around the world constantly, which is another reason it is always a pleasure to catch Naria in New York for an acupuncture treatment.
It wasn't rocket science for me that Naria was the right person to ask about ways to help reduce and settle jet lag.
Here are three tips from her that feel appropriate to share right as summer travel to Europe and back is in full swing!
On The Plane
Opt for the lightest and healthiest options for your meals.
If you are lucky enough to travel with Vista Jet, a Laroot World special in-flight menu is available to order! Upon arrival at your destination, fast to the best of your capacity. If you can get away with some broths and tisanes on the day of your arrival and start a culinary journey after a night of sleep, Naria approves!
Three Days Without A Nap
This one is hard with a 6+ hour jet lag, but is highly recommended to be able to center your body on the local circadian rhythm. Being in tune with the local rhythm will allow your body to digest more efficiently and promotes better quality of sleep.
Sea Salt In Water
Drink lots of water on the plane and upon arrival.
Not news. Add a pinch of sea salt to your water glass or bottle every time you drink, that is the magnificent change which will give your body the moisture it needs to be sustained through the acclimatization of the body to the different environment.
Safe travels and happy landings!
Lots of Love,
Natasha
