After a summer of intense creativity from our Culinary Director - who’s been busy developing new dishes for our menus (soon to be featured on our website) -  and with Laroot resuming deliveries on September 3rd, we’re excited to give you a peek behind-the-scenes at how each new dish comes to life.

Is there a secret formula for a Laroot dish? Well, after all it is all about our three pillars:
DISCOVERY + FLAVOR + WELLNESS = A LAROOT DISH
So how do each of these pillars shape our dish development?
DISCOVERY: Culinary Research

Before a potential dish even appears on Laroot’s radar, our Culinary Director, alongside our founder Natasha, dives deep into culinary research. We’re talking about getting lost in hard-to-find books, rediscovering old family recipes, and, of course, consulting everyone’s dear friend—the internet. It’s a labor of love that takes not just hours but days, even weeks, to curate a dish that’s not just any dish—it’s the dish, rooted in a specific cultural or regional tradition.

FLAVOR: Internal Food Tastings

Once the research phase is complete, it’s time to play with flavors. Our Culinary Director experiments with different variations of the dish until finding the best one. Then, it’s internal tasting time. The Laroot team gathers to taste and critique - not with just a casual “It’s good” or “Not feeling it,” but with a thorough evaluation down to the smallest detail and ingredient. We let our loyal customers try the dishes too, because who better to trust than our own foodies? If any adjustments are needed, the dish goes through additional rounds of internal vetting until it’s perfected.

WELLNESS: Medical Advisor Approval

Once the dish reaches flavor perfection, the final step is to have our medical advisors review it, incorporating feedback from both Eastern and Western medical perspectives. Our NYC advisors get the dish delivered straight to their doorsteps for assessment and evaluation of their benefits, while those outside the city - or even in other countries, like our Ayurvedic advisor Dr. Avilochan Singh in India - review the ingredients to provide their insights.

Our team has been working hard to better our offering for those who matter most - you, our dear subscribers. Now that you’ve had a glimpse into our dish development process, we can’t wait to return after our summer R&D break and for you to try our new dishes!
